In March of this year the Ethiopian government shut down schools to prevent the easy transmission of the Covid19 virus. Messert Ethiopia was forced to close down its after school program temporarily. The program in addition to giving home work assistance and tutorials to elementary school age members of its sponsorship program; it provides nutritious meals to these children.
In order to prevent these kids from going hungry Messert Ethiopia started a lunch in a box program where the kids come to pick up their lunch in a lunch box six days a week.
A shower service complete with the provision of soap and towels is made available for the children to take a shower when they come to pick their food.
